I was wondering if you guys could suggest a good supplier of sheet metal and ductwork specific layout tools?

I've been trying to find new trammel points, dividers, rulers, scribes etc, but haven't been able to find anything locally, and for some reason my online searches have been failing miserably.

Thanks!

Starrett makes the best, IMO. I use a random hodgepodge of old layout tools, and my favorites are always the starretts. You can get them online, or though most any industrial supply.

Harry Epstiens also sells some sheet metal tools.

Lee Valley Tools has dividers that are decent and not too expensive. I have all three sizes. I also got my trammel points there (sold as beam compass heads) but they also carry cheaper trammel points now which they didn't carry a few years ago. edit: What I really like about the ones I bought is that one of the pins is eccentric so it's easy to fine-tune. I use a Dasco scratch Awl I got at Lowes but I don't think the tip is hardened enough for long-term use on metal. Lee Valley has Starett scribers.

Almost everyone in Canada carries Wiss snips but I prefer Midwest. I've found them at Noble Trade though their selection varies by location. Also try an HVAC supply store, they'll usually sell you tools. I go to Ontario Heating on Rogers Rd, they also have a big shop at Lawrence and Jane. Selection in stores for specialty tools and parts in Toronto is terrible generally and I often buy online because of that, but with the Canadian dollar being so weak and shipping costs being so high, it probably makes sense to buy local right now.

Thanks for the replies, and I appreciate the different suggestions. Harry J. Epstein has a bunch of stuff, and the dual bar scribe that Benoit produces looks very similar to the Stanley, which are few and far between now. Hands down one of my favourite layout tools, and if mine ever grows legs and 'walks' again, I now know where to get a replacement. Thanks!

I automatically associate Lee Valley with woodworking tools and completely dismissed them for sheet metal items. Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to drop by next time I am nearby one of their locations.

Malco tools main building/warehouse is a few miles from me, we do some work for them in our machine shop, they should have most everything you need, I think home depot carries some of their stuff, or Amazon, I highly recommend their turbo shear products for cutting any sheet metal, we use one for our race cars and works very well, and the blades last a long time.
