So the snow storm a few days hit pretty hard in Maine, and in particular in the Sebago Lake area. Snow fall was anywhere from 23-30 inches. I have 2 ShelterLogic shelters, a 12x20, and 12x12 and they were up to the challenge. There was tremendous snow load (I tried shedding the snow by pushing the roof panels from the inside, but they were far to heavy), but neither the tubing or the cover failed. BTW, I install the units with a 2x6 as a footer to which I screw the end caps on the rib tubes.

As an aside, I once tried to go on the cheap and use a ShelterLogic unit sold by Tractor Supply. My direct observation was the tube frame was of lighter gauge. And my experience is it failed under a much lighter snow load.

The attached photo shows them after I used a roof rake to clear them. I used the snow blower to carve a path on the far left to gain access. The alley way between the to units has gotten do big to tackle with the snow blower. Earlier in the season I was keeping that open.

I have a couple Shelterlogic 12x20's from Tractor Supply, so the ones you have are sturdier? Where did you purchase them? Another question, the fabric on the shelters looks different in the picture, is one thicker? Thanks, glad they are holding up for you. I clean mine off regularly, and other than some rips in the fabric where it meets the corner on top, they are holding up well. My dad had one only last a couple of months after a heavy snow. The bars completely bent and collapsed.

Usually the "snow rated" "portable garage/shed" have a much steeper roof pitch so that they shed snow easier/quicker.

I have a dome top shelter logic. I have to remove snow from the sides of wigwam or it puts significant pressure on walls...the material on my shelter logic has started to deteriorate considerably at 3 years old. Last winter for cover.

My 10x20 did very well for 3 years. The summer winds shredded it after the third year. I was able to buy a new cover for the frame for $175 by calling Shelterlogic directly. Mine is the tan one.

Like Walmart gets custom products, Tractor Supply gets a custom build from ShelterLogic. The most telling difference as I said before is the gauge of the tubes. My memory is a bit fuzzy but the diameter might have been a tad smaller too. Cover seemed similar weight. But the cover will tear no matter the weight if the frame fails catastrophically. Contact ShelterLogic for a dealer in your area.

I live near Sebago Lake too and measured 23" of snowfall in my yard from the last big storm. My Shelterlogic 12 x 20 non snow rated model held up okay as well. The cover did manage to either stretch or pull some slack from somewhere as there is more droop in the cover between supports now. I too usually just go inside it and push the roof up to shed snow but had to break out the roof rake out this time. I still need to go back and shovel along the sides to reduce the inward pressure of the snow piles. Mine is placed too remotely to get a snowblower to.

Its seems like a bad idea to spend that much money for something that wont last very long

When I was spending a $100 a month to store what was in it before I got it. The $225 seemed like a great deal.

good to hear, just put mine up last weekend. 13x28 w/ the 21oz fabric, I'm on Cape Cod, a nasty snow storm here might net a foot, we do occasionally get 20-30" but not often.
