Has anyone here used this stuff? I'm considering using it to paint the upstairs floor of my barn, which is 3/4" Advantech. The space will be used as an exercise and recreation area. I don't want to spend the money on hardwood or tile floors; the idea of a durable coating therefore appeals to me. I'd love to hear from anyone who has used it, my main concerns of course being how it holds up to foot traffic and the occasional scuff/scratch/bang.

It is a great coating, but I wouldn't expect any type of "Paint"to work well with Advantech flooring. I would have concerns with the Advantech flaking over time, also would be concerned with how well the paint would be able to build up on top of the surface, I would think it would soak in quite a bit.

If you arn't very picky at all about the flooring I would watch craigslist and talk to local installer for lowes/home depot and see if they can hook you up with used carpet in great condition. You might be able to get enough carpet for the area for $100-200 that someone took out because they didn't like the color or it was just builder grade.

Why don't you call the manufacturer and ask them? Perhaps a primer is required for best performance. I understand it will probably take 2+ coats for that type of flooring. Local price around here is around $210 for a 5 gallons bucket.

BTW I'm kinda interested in the results as I have the same flooring in the second floor of my barn and might consider this stuff.

I e-mailed the company last night. We'll see what they say.

AdvanTec doesn't flake or chip like cheap flake or particle board. It also has a pretty well textured surface. I'm betting that adhesion wouldn't be a problem.

I have used Tread Plex for my floor in my snowmobile trailer. It held up nicely to the carbides on the skis. I'm picking up my new trailer next Friday and I will be putting Tread Plex down on it's floor.

That looks good. Did you use a primer first or just lay the paint right over the floor? What kind of wood is the floor? Is that a "fresh" or "used" pic of the space?

I still haven't heard back from the company regarding my questions from last week.

I just laid the paint over the floor as it was a new trailer. I did 2 coats on the floor and ramps, but only one on the side walls. On the second coat for the floor/ramps, I mixed in 2 cups of sand into the paint for some texture and grip when wet or icy, not saying it needed it, but you never know. It has held up nicely, no peeling, bubbling or flaking from regularly use during 3 seasons of winter. The flooring is called rainblock flooring and is used by a lot of trailers mfg'ers. Don't know if it's the same as Advantech but is 3/4" like the Advantech is. This is a fresh picture that I took right after I first painted it. I still hadn't removed some of the tape off the sides and installed the floor D-rings. After the snowmobile season is over, in the summer I just used a mild dish soap to clean/scrub the floor, then rinse. Looks very looks, not as shiny as new but still in very good shape.
