Hello, This is my first post and I just joined, but I have been lurking the forum for quite some time. I just bout two kits of H&C Shield-Crete in beige to do my 19X19 2 car garage floor. I am also going with the clear. Does anyone that has used the same kit have any pictures or can you share your thoughts on how it went?

Thank You

I worked at SW for over 3 years and sold many of those kits. IF i were you i would check out their website as it use to be pretty informative I'm not sure if it is anymore, otherwise its pretty straight forward, and only can really come out as good as you prep. Ive see some color look great like blue, tan, grey and others like red and yellow look terrible. The clear doesn't really have a luster to it really unless you build the product up, or more than one coat. Do not park cars directly on the floor after coming home or you will get hot tire pick up, which is the most common failure in these DIY kits. As well it is not meant for heavy duty applications if you just want to freshen up your space or bring it together it will be fine, but it will not withstand high volumes of traffic. Your best bet is to prep your concrete as good as you can, using a high quality soft woven roller and take your time, only paint the recommended section at a time if your doing flakes, also keep a wet edge on both products. Also i recommend using some mats in high traffic areas such as in front of doors or workbenches this will help cover/slow down wear in these areas.

The H&C Shield-Crete is similar quality as other home improvement store kits such as EpoxyShield, QuikRete, and Valspar water based epoxy.

there are several posts here, one just yesterday about SW products. You might spend a few minutes looking at those.

Prep is the key, and in the latest SW post, you may want to get the latest on "batches"....of product, especially SW and the box stores seem to gloss over the concept, to the frustration of the end user.

The coating vendors here are an absolute gold reference, as compared to the box stores or local paint stores.

caveat emptor

When it comes to epoxy flooring on this board, the crowd is pretty ******** about using the best material (100% solids or high solids epoxy) that's solvent-based. You're not gonna find good or definite answer on these type of epoxy because they're "homeowner grade" material.

Look into Sherwin-William Armorseal 1000HS coating system. expect to pay about $500 on material and supplies for that garage size. Basically, you're paying two times more but it's more durable.

I just finished using SW Tile Clad and very happy with the results and how it went down. Only had it down for a month so I can't speak to it's durability. Local salesman here in Michigan said most of the Auto plants in the area use this. Price, coverage and pot life was why I chose it.

For prep should I:
A. Power wash - Etch - Rinse
B. Power wash - Etch - Power wash
C. Etch - Rinse - Power wash

The concrete has paint and oil stains. It is 15 year old concrete. I have the H&C concrete etching solution.

I pick up a power washer tomorrow and start this project.

Thank You for the replies.
