It seems that air cleaners/purifiers are all the rage in the new shops going on our area. It appears that they do a good job of sucking up dust fumes and keeping things cleaner. It also appears that they are fairly pricey! Can anybody give me some facts about how may air exchanges/hour are recommended? Has anybody built one using a furnace blower? My building is 70x80/19 and I use it for a little bit of equipment storage, small welding projects, woodworking/house remodel projects, farm repair...etc, and I'm tired of it being filthy a day after I sweep it up.

I had this Dayton 1/4 hp fan assembly and made some duct work. This fan moves tons of air with very low noise

Sorry no photos - took blower assembly out of furnace. Mounted it in a sealed box on wheels with furnace filter on each side. If I remember correctly it moves about 1200 cfm which in my 20 X 30 shop - works quite well cleaning the air and is not too loud. And as a 2nd benefit works as a cooling fan during the warmer months.
