My shop is below my house, roughly 2000 sq ft. The design is mostly open with a staircase dividing one third and 4x4 metal uprights spaced around 12-20' apart.
Kinda looks like this, but the walls are not in yet. Those will be for the workout room, wife's craft room and the gun/reloading room.
The big end with the posts in it is a combo woodworking, welding and general work area. I really like the open aspect and have mounted most everything on wheels to take advantage of that. The biggest issue I have is dust/debris control. Most of the time it is fine, but then I start planeing wood or welding/grinding and dust gets everywhere. Metal dust is bad for wood, wood dust is bad for welding stuff and it all is bad for storage stuff.
I am considering some sort of curtains like a hospital has. They just need to be enough to stop most of the dust, none of that area is a clean room.
The cheap way would be with HF tarps. I have few hundred feet of 1/16 aircraft wire rope that would be plenty strong for holding it. I could either run it through the eyes or use some sort of hooks/curtain hangers to hold them.
I wanted to know if anyone knew of a better material. Ideally something like vinyl that I could get in a roll 8-9ft wide and long enough to do single large curtains.
Don't want to pour money into this but willing to spend more for something that will last and look nicer.
