Shop fan motors

I have shop fan I bought a while back that's starting to cut on/off, I'm pretty sure it's a thermal problem. The guy I got it from gave it a hard life. The fan motor part number is 5KCP39MG P530BS, it's a GE motor.

The other fan I was just given today came from TSC and has a ALB140ZSEB made by New Motech LTD.

I'm having hard time today finding source or price to replace the motors. I hate to just toss the fans if it doesn't cost too much to replace the motors.

I would have thought the GE motor would have been easy to find. The TSC motor I'm not surprised...

any ideas?

Ge no longer make 48 frame motors. Try a motor shop,ebay or grainger. Do not pick a motor by horse power use amps and even if the motor you pick is .1 amp less than name plate buy larger motor. More than likely a new fan will be cheaper.

You may be right...or do like RJ said when I talked to him, make one for the belt driven one....

When I get home, I may check the surplus center and see what they have...

I would open the motor if it has sleeve bearing I would clean and oil them, if ball bearing I would replace them. Once a bearing start dragging and the motor slows even slightly the current draw goes way up and the motor overheats and tripping the thermal overload.

Everything turns free. I'm pretty sure they have been overheated by the environment they lived in. BTW, I've fed them about as much WD-40 and PB blaster as I'm going to.

The GE powered fan might be worth a motor...

PB or WD neither one I would consider a lubricant.
