Here's what I use. Great for cooling and welding.

I have several in my shop- one is an attic type fan mounted at the top of my peak for heat removal, one (42" I think) box type fan, and a wall mounted fan like the ones used in oil change pits (that is actually where it came from).
I will say that they all didn't get much use (other than the box fan) due to when I was able to put them in service and the fact my shop is open to the North and South.

Falcon67, I installed a whole house fan in our ranch style home and. Love it. We both worked at the time, and I wasn't about to cool the house while we were both away. I would rather have the windows open, and that fan pulling in the cooler outer air and cooling off the attic. Very comfortable. And yes, I am aware of your very hot Texas temps.

I just turn on the A\C if its that bad usually just the humidity, most of the time it's comfortable. :bounce:

But I now have 2 ceiling fans, and also a 20" high velocity round fan. I can actually get so cold I have to walk outside to stop shivering.
