Hello,

I’m working on insulation, electrical, walls, and ceiling in my 36x48x13 pole barn. I’m in upstate NY in the Rochester area and will only be using heat during the winter to get the garage in the 50-55 degree area to work out there. It won’t be heated all of the time. Does anyone have recommendations on shop ceiling fans and how many I should have? It was recommended to me as I was shopping for a heater and I’m just trying to decide how many I should have and which model would work well without being too costly.

Thank you

I bought a couple of hampton bay 52" ceiling fans for my 30x48x12 and have been happy with them. All winter they have been on low and it definitely makes a difference with the heat.

Just for an example, I have a single 7 ft Home Depot fan in the center of my 30x38x13 well insulated stick built garage. It runs 24/7/365 at medium to low speed in the winter to get warmer air off the ceiling and at higher speed in the summer to move more air for human comfort. The winter temp is kept at 50* when not in use and the summer AC off unless it is a hot day and I am working there.

The Big *** fans are nice, move more air but are a bit pricy.

I need to replace the ceiling fan in my shop. Previous owner threw a little cheapie up there. It gets the job done, but changing speeds or turning it off is difficult.

I'm thinking of grabbing one of the ones with the little remotes for turning it on/off and maybe changing speeds.

My shop side of the building is 47x49and I installed 4 cheap industrial fans from menards that were around $50 each and they do great. Look at cfm, mine move around 5000cfm and will turn over all the air in my shop within 2min. I went this route for cost reasons. The bigger fans look cool but at the end of the day all you are trying to do is mix up the air in the building to get even heating. Also if one of my fans goes out I can pick one up the same day and make a repair, not to mention Im only out $50, not hundreds or even thousands for the name brand big fans.

I hang drugstore window fans from the ceiling
Aimed so they create a swirl.
Set on low and running 24/7/365
They keep down the cobwebs and dust
As well as even out the heat

We ditched all the big *** fans and such at work and bought fans called air pears. They are awesome. Virtually silent, compact and they can easily and quickly be aimed even horizontal if needed. They make some for short ceiling heights and super tall ones.
