Hello all, lots of good info here but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm slated to have a shop started at the end of the month. 40x60 to house my side business and all my other projects. Half machine shop, half automotive with a lift, welder, with almost anything else you can think of.

The properties I'm looking for are:

Heat resistance for both machining chips and welding slag
automotive fluid resistance
easy cleanup
some type of coloring to help dropped nuts, bolts and screws stand out visually

Based on what I've read so far, it looks like possibly a dye with a densifier and sealer may be the right path but I'm not sure. Also not sure what product combination to look at given the myriad of options.

Would greatly appreciate any advice people can provide....

Look at ghost shield products. For working shops it one of the better choices. I used the 4500 densifer and 8500 penetrating sealer. Acid stained before for some color. Even ice doesn’t stick to it.

I have looked at those and they're currently top of the list. I'm not really down with the acid dyes though. Was unclear if they'll work with the water based dyes available.

Color is probably the least important item on my list though. If something has to go that will be it....

after some back and forth with sales reps, the dye and a penetrating sealer are not optimal. while they'll work together, you need a protective film or the dye will wear off.

Looks like ghostshield minus the color it is...

Can you elaborate more on the no color? When I did mine information was sparse and yet I have seen no problems using the acid stain. Is water based stain part of the no color comment?
Just looking for some education on it.

For chasing hardware dropped on the floor, a solid, light color with no flake is going to be the best. Our hangar floors are semi polished concrete, with a certain area painted white. It's often very hard to find dropped washers, unless you are on your hands and knees with flashlights shining across the floor to see them.

One of my most useful shop tools for picking up dropped hardware is the magnet I glued to a length of dowel. I found that Gorilla glue works very well for this application.

OP -Be aware transmission fluid stains the concrete with Ghost Shiled 8505/densifier in my shop. And the stain won't even come up with a commercial oil extractor product. Not sure on Ghost Shield 8510.

Doing some further reading last night, has anyone used the PS100 from Concrete Sealers USA? My main concern is oils more than water, so maybe it's a better option....

This is what I did and am happy with it. I've had oil, power steering fluid and other stuff on it and it all wiped up with no staining. I even had some welding slag hit it over the weekend and it made some dark brown marks, but it isn't bad. It does get dirty. I was working on an old 4 wheeler the other day and after walking through some oil soaked dirt that came off of it, it marked the floor. I didn't try to clean it up, other than a broom, but it's a working garage, so I don't mind some usage marks.

Officially GS does not support color. You and several others have had great success but I can't go off book

After doing a fair bit of reading including a few academic papers on flourocarbons and their interaction with oils and such, I decided to give the PS100 a go. We'll see how it goes I suppose lol

nova3930, how has the PS100 worked out for you? Has it gotten any real world testing in your shop yet?

I'm looking for a sealer that can protect my 30x40 interior, heated, machine-troweled slab against water, salt, oil, automotive chemicals, physical abuse, and hot welding slag. Those last two make me hesitant to use a topical sealer like TS210, so I'm debating between PS100 (perhaps with a PS103 densifier) and GhostShield.

Can the Garage Flooring guy share any noteworthy differences between GhostShield 4500+8510 and PS103+PS100?

Which ones do? I want the durable floor and polished effect, but if possible I'd like a light color. It really helped my last shop in finding parts, and lighting up the place.

Is there a way to do a light (almost white'ish) effect with a sealer/densifier?
