Shop Floor Broom

Probably a dumb topic...but what do you guys use for shop brooms? I have a concrete floor in the shop, it's not polished, epoxied, sealed, etc and the apron outside has a brushed/broom finish on it. It was poured last fall. I was at Menards last week looking at brooms and they had several different kinds. I think the ones I looked at were Libby brand. They had smooth surface, multi-surface, rough surface... I have an older one, but the bristles seem pretty weak, if any dirt/mud is stuck to the floor it doesn't want to break it loose. The rough surface bristles seemed way stiffer than the other, but didn't know if it'd be too stiff for a regular finish concrete floor. I think on the apron it'd work good on. Like I said dumb topic...but thought I'd ask...

The one I like best is a duel head that has soft bristles round the outside and stiffer bristles inside. I dont like the plastic type, just pure bristle.

Any farm supply outlet and ask for a stable broom.

Hitachi RB24EAP 23.9 cc Handheld Leaf Blower. Open all the doors and blow it out.

Sometimes I use a push broom and other times I use my leaf blower

I use a leaf blower too. I just have to remember to shut my wifes car windows next time when all the dust and debris is heading that way.

I took the largest brass tube from an old truck radio antenna, then I took and OSHA approved 1/4 air blower and removed the screw on tip - then I married two like they were made for each other.

Uses:

1. First used to launch yellow **** connectors at fellow employees that had just bent over. Not accurate but (pun intended) funny.

2. Blow the oil out of blind bolt holes for Cummins 855 engines.

3. Took a Cummins injector link rod from an 855 and ground the tip to a point and the flare to just fit the antenna tube. Wow, that link will pass thru a wood creeper like butter. I never aimed this one at a co-workers ****, but I did shoot it into the air one night - came down and went into a Ford F700 windshield.

4. Ball bearings from a 14.5/15.0 clutch fit perfectly. I hit a rat at 30 yards one night behind the shop.

5. Now, though it's been retired to just being an air sweeper for my garage. I am amazed at how much builds up out there.

And as for the 'roll up the windows' idea......true dat!

Shop Vac, usually once a week. Always after a project.

I push all the loose and not so loose stuff into a pile with an 18" floor spud,then pick up the remaining dust with a spreader on a shop vac.Oil dry is almost impossible to sweep up but the spud just scrapes it up easily.
