Mostly been a lurky just bought a house with a small shop in the back about 950 sqft. Looking for recommendations on floor options. Shop floor is concrete smooth ish for the most part few stains here an there. Previous owner used it as a wood shop. Plans for the shop now are more of a work area on one side with car lift and the other side work bench tool chests so on. I do also have a welder there is an area outside the shop I could use if I need to but would like to be able to weld in the shop if I can.

Basically looking for a flooring that's gonna hold up to some abuse floor jacks, jack stands, the car lift moving around, possibly welding.

I do like the epoxy with flake just not sure how it's gonna hold up to abuse. Live in the PNW so snow, rain, mud cold temps so on.

Black93Fox,

I sent you a pm -

The Search tool is not very helpful as far as I am concerned.
I tried to search for my previous posting on this topic and I could only find my post if I searched for my username!

In any case, I used Zep Sealer and Zep polish.
So far I am happy with it. It has been down about 2 months now.

Yea I know been on forums for years classic first post from someone is use the search bar. Half the time doesn't work and if it does it brings up random bs that isn't part of the search then you gotta dig threw all that.

What kind of work is done around your floor? My main concern is the welding in my shop i don't really think I have an option to do welding in the shop with out messing up the floors but that's why I posted see if someone has been the lab rat for me.

Where did you get the zep product at?

I picked up ZEP at Home Depot in the cleaning supplies section.

I did not do any grinding. Zep makes a cleaner and I also cleaned some areas with Simple Green.

I used 3 gallons of the sealer and about 3 of the polish for 2000 sqft.

I'm sure I'll have to reapply in some areas as time goes on.
I am always spilling fuel, brake fluid , brake clean etc.

I can still see old stains but I can crawl around on the floor now and not get all white dusty from the concrete. Mops up well and is shinny.

As long as you protect the floor from the welding, a good coating will work for you. I would consider doing 3 coats of polyurea with our anti wear anti skid in the last coat. https://www.garageflooringllc.com/polyurea-garage-floor-coating/

Hi,
The most popular options we offer for spaces like yours are:

1. Penetrating sealers like Ghostshield (excellent if you weld a lot since this penetrates and there is no coating on the surface to get damaged)

2. SPGX One part/no mixing hybrid Polyurea/Polyaspartic coating. Easy to apply, usually only one coat needed. Super resistant to all common auto fluids and such.

3. 3-layer 100% solids epoxy system www.armorcladepoxy.com

1000+ happy GJ customers using all of the above.

Please contact us directly (not PM) for more info and pricing. Thank you and happy holidays.
