I was gonna say its a solid stock of some type of metal before being milled but upon zoom in, it looks like it has a welded seam around the bottom.

Maybe I'm a bit daft here but I think Dake is a brand name of hydraulic press...

If not, someone's likely going to be. Actually, that would be a pretty good use for an old beat up plate. Ive seen many that were repurposed for measuring scope bases.

DAKE can be an arbor press, it can be a hydraulic press, or it can be a cold saw.

But in all my life working in machine shops and working around Inspection, I have never seen a round surface plate like that.

I believe the Dake is the off white thing above the DoAll item in the picture. He said he was lucky and it didn't scratch the Dake. I still have no idea what the DoAll piece is. My only thought was it is band saw blade material for a DoAll that welds its own blades. No idea as I haven't actually seen a DoAll in person.

The round piece is what dropped off of the stand. It is a round granite surface plate.

The DAKE it the piece of machinery at the top of the picture, which is more than likely a DAKE saw.

The stand at the bottom of the picture is the stand for the round granite surface plate. The DAKE at the top of the picture and the round surface plate have nothing to do with one another at all.

DoAll is a Canadian company that does metal fabrication so the item on the floor might be a fabricated part. I see no sign of a granite slab. OP does not have his location shown so we can get no clue from that. I'm beginning to think we have all been sucked in.

Actually I think in this case DoALL is the American saw making company. Notice the DoALL emblem with the globe behind it.

DoAll makes surface plates also. I have a set of DoAll gage blocks in my toolbox. The round piece on the floor is a chunk of granite.

Why would the OP try to sucker anyone in by saying what he did

Some DoAll surface plates

Hang in there Kev! Your keeping me from a lot of typing! LOL.

Come on OP, splain it! Everyone is too confused to guess.

Its either a bag or the cover for the granite.

AS KEVIN HAS TRIED TO EXPLAIN, THE ROUND PIECE IN THE FLOOR IS A GRANITE SURFACE PLATE. IT FELL OFF OF THE STAND IN THE BOTTOM OF THE PICTURE WHILE HE WAS MOVING IT. IT IS GROUND PERFECTLY FLAT TO MEASURE PARTS WITH A HEIGHT INDICATOR (SUCH AS A DIAL/DIGITAL INDICATOR OR CMM) OR YOU CAN CHECK PARTS FOR FLATNESS AND PARALLELISM.

I have seen one round one before but it was 4-5 inches thick.
The machine shop I worked at had one that was 4ft x 4ft and was 10 - 12 inches thick.

How thick is that round one you have and what diameter is that and lastly....
How in the hell are you going to pick that up and get it back on the stand.

I still cant believe that did not break.
Best of luck to you and remember lift with your legs... not your back.
