Hey Guys,

ok so I purchased one of those 880 lb harbor freight hoists a couple years ago... need to pull my engine out of the old john deere tractor soon and im having a fit trying to figure how to mount this puppy..

looks like it takes 1 3/4 sq steel tubing to mount to what ? I have an I beam and trolley I can rig it to but not sure how / where to find the parts..

anybody do this ?

pics and or ideas would be appreciated

thanks,

Joe

do you have a model number or something for us to start with? otherwise we are guessing about what hoist you have.

I would probably explore acquiring another trolley so that your hoist can be mounted at two locations. then I would fabricate an inverted "T" so that the trolleys could bolt through the vertical flange and the mounting bolts for the original brackets could be used to bolt through the horizontal flange.

Rookie2 has the right idea. I made a version of that for mine to hang from the trolley. Made with whatever was leftover from other projects.

I bolted two pieces of angle iron to mine and the trolley mount is sandwiched between them. Mine is the 2000 lb one though so I used 3x3 angle with a 1/4" cross section.
