I think I finally got my insulation problem fixed. 30x60 morton pole building with r-19 in walls and 24" of blow in fiberglass in ceiling.I had the shop up to about 60 on monday and shut the heat off for 24 hrs went in shop this morning and it was still above freezeing with a pail of water that didnt freeze. Over night it got down to about 0 outside so the shop held the heat rather well.

Insulation is amazing stuff. My garage is well insulated but I don't heat it. It is detached from the house so the only source of heat is from the ground below it.
I've found that during the extreme cold of winter, my garage stays 40 to 50 degrees above the nighttime low temps just by itself.
January 15 of 2009 the temp dropped to -44 here. When I went in the unheated garage that morning, it was sitting around +15. That is what insulation does all by itself.

I have to agree with the above statement. I have my FIRST insulated garage I had built in Oct. last year. 50x30, insulated r19 in the walls and 30 something in the ceiling/attic. 9ft ceiling and all sheetrocked.

We live in Iowa and have had tons of snow this year. Daytime temps -10 to +20 has been the norm. for this winter. Not including wind chills. I remember one day it was around 0 degrees outside and I went into the garage and it was still 40 degrees! I have a large insulated 8x18 wide garage door and 2 service doors on the building. I have been very happy with it!
