Seeing the shop fridge pics and the posts on my questions about a rustic shop kitchen got me thinking that I need to paint my fridge that's out there. How do you tackle a project like that. There's a little rust around one door handle that will have to be sanded down and dealt with. Do you sand the whole fridge and prime it? If so what kind of primer works best? Spray on or roll on? Same for paint? As noted in my other post I plan on using corrugated metal wainscoting and not sure of the paint on top yet. Any suggestions on a fridge color?

Years ago we had a good condition yellow fridge and we redid the kitchen so I painted it white. Used a green scratch pad and just roughed it up a little then tac clothed the thing. I used rattle can appliance paint to do it. It actually came out real nice and when we sold that house the buyer bought it and the other stuff in the kitchen. Just masked off the door gaskets.

If you have bare metal, you'll need a self etching primer. Martin Senour makes a great self-etching primer, our local NAPA store carries their line.

I'd recommend you spray your fridge over rolling it. Even with some patience, a spray can will come out looking decent.

Sounds good. Now I just need to decide on what color to paint it and when I can find time to work on it along with everything else in the shop.

Thanks
