I would be concerned that the breaker did not trip given the amount of magic smoke that seemed to have escaped from the short. Is it by chance a Federal (FPE) panel/breaker?I seem to have a few 20A switches, this is a 20A circuit. Any reason not to use them, breaker didn't trip on this but switch is shorted. 4x4 box and a raised cover.
