I'm building a 16x24 shop. standard 8' ceiling, I thought of using ourdoor security light.( like the street lights that can be bought at Lowes ) any thoughts ? good or bad.
Are you asking about using outdoor security lights as indoor ceiling lights????
If so, I don't know why you would want to do that. The new T8 fluorescent light fixtures are inexpensive, instant-on, and energy efficient. Outdoor security light fixtures are none of the above. I installed the T8 fixtures in my new garage and love them. See Posting #91 of my build thread, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98038&highlight=virginia+retirement&showall=1
I have a 40x54ft shop. I ran the conduit so it had outlets on the ceiling and used the 4ft shop lights you find at walmart that plug in. Paired with "Daytime Deluxe" T8 bulbs from home depot I have never good light. I have had these lights for almost a year now with no issues. They turn on instantly, no flickering, no humming, are bright and barely hit the electric bill.
