So i'm turning half of my dads wood shops attic into a man cave the space is 13' 4" by 55' and the ceiling height is 8' to the bottom of the collar ties. I'm only going to seal half of the space off because its a very use full storage space, since there's a 4' x 8' trap door in the floor with a 3/4 ton cable hoist in the ceiling. I'm going to frame the room off to be 27' 8", and insulate, vapor barrier drywall plus run more outlets and lights.

This is the area that's going to be sealed off to be the man cave

This is the entire attic of the shop besides that there's a gable with a window on the left side

Over the Easter long weekend i cleaned out and organized the attic.

Got a bunch of work finished over the past few weekends. I finished the framing today and started to run the A/V cables from the area were the bar goes under the floor and up to the TV on the wall. i still have to run speaker wire before i can put the piece of the sub floor back in. The electrician is coming on Tuesday to rough in the wiring.

We have a similar shaped barn-style garage at our home with a small loft up top. I've always wanted to do something like this but unfortunately we have so much "stuff" that it all needs to be used for storage.

Haven't posted in here for a couple weeks but i got insulation in and vapor barrier up The walls are R14 and ceiling is R22, I still have to tuck tape the vapor barrier joints. Today i was working at my bosses friends house gutting it and i manged to salvage a couple rooms worth of laminate flooring. Unfortunately I'm about 80 sqft short of flooring, and since the flooring is 7 years old i doubt i can get the same finish. So I 'm going to do a 2' border around the room in a dark colored laminate so i can have enough to do the room.

Here is the color of the laminate in the room before it got gutted.

This cave is looking great! From your reference to "tapers", I assume you hired out that step of the drywall work ... wise decision!!

Can you post a couple of pics of the hoist installation? Particularly, how it is supported.

Yes we did hire tapers to do the work, I would just make a mess of taping and would take me 10x longer than the pros.

The winch is bolted to a 6x6 beam, and is resting on tripled up rafters on both ends of the beam. This is the only pic i have of the setup.

Bar got installed today and installed a receptacle for HDMI and component audio so you can hook up your ipod and laptop to the tv or receiver with out wires hanging down the cabinet.
