Firing up a build thread for the [personal] insanity I have going.

The basics:

40x64x18 Pole Barn
Shingle roof
42x40 Shop
22x40 "Entertainment Center"
~29x40 mezzanine
28x8 lean-to (aka porch)
Shingle roof for future solar
indoor/outdoor bartop with 8'w garage door
12x14 overhead door
9x10 overhead door

Gotta get a host location for pictures setup, will work on that.

Current situation: all post holes have their cement footers installed. That alone took 1 month longer and $1k more than expected, off to a "great" start.... :lol_hitti

I'm currently building this thing as a DIY with help from all my friends that want free access to a 12Klb auto lift I'll be installing once i have the building up. #leverage

For me I find that uploading to an album here easiest. Go to you user CP above and then albums. Load in the pictures and use the BB code in your posts or refer members to your albums to see more.

If you click on my user name above you will see my information and albums. Click on an album and you'll see the pictures.

Thumper: i used to use Photobucket and with all their changes (for the worse in my mind) i just use the paperclip and download up to 7 pictures at a time off my laptop where i've downloaded them from my cell phone. paperclip just in middle above where you are writing your posts.

good luck

Sounds like an epic build.
If I lived nearby I'd be in on it!

Have you built anything like this before or are you a newbie to the process?

I wish I had space for one tenth of what you have planned.

Ha, I appreciate that Shift!

No, I have not built anything like this. What I've done a lot of is landscaping stuff, but no buildings/additions. I tiled a shower once...does that count? lol

OK, realized I have a google drive so that should work for pics.

Here's 3 pics from my Sketchup drawings that I made so I could see how things fit. Things are pretty much to-scale as best I could get them.

Thanks guys! Spent the evening covering up all the lumber in prep for the looming rain/snow over the next 2 days. I def have a few warped pieces already, dammit.

Last 2 weeks were spent getting my chit somewhat together. Had 1 post hole that was not big enough, so had to get a mini-x to widen it by a whole 9 inches. Very expensive 9 inches. But, I did use the mini-x as a forklift and I moved most of the posts into position to be put into holes so the mini-x rental was worth it.

Today I pounded the first nails (putting on the uplift cleats, haha!) but also got 3 posts put into their holes and temp braced. Woohoo! This sh1t just got real!

I'm using a hitch-mounted winch to get the posts in the air. So far has been working very well. Most of my posts are 4-ply laminated columns and that means pretty heavy. Using a winch means less manpower required to get them vertical and more manageable when they start going vertical. First 2 posts took about 45 minutes each to get up and temp-braced. 3rd one took under 15 minutes after we figured out how to do it more efficiently. Tip: mark the spacing from post-to-post on the mason string so you don't have to measure 50 times (after moving the post 1" this way, then 3/4" that way, etc.).

First hole getting filled. Took about 17 wheelbarrow loads to fill a 7' deep 36" diameter hole.

Anyone know how to get rid of the "attachment thumbnails" part of post #11 above while still having the larger images appear in the body of the post? I thought I did the same thing when uploading post #11 pictures as I did in post #8, which does NOT show the "attachment thumbnails" box at the bottom of it like post #11 does.
