Well, I am designing / planning a shop / office build and am currently working on the office design.

Shop will be 30' x 60' x 12', office will enclose 15' x 20' x 8' of that space. The whole shop will be insulated with 3" insulation on the walls, like used on steel buildings. Will have a metal ceiling with blown insulation over it. Shop will be heated only when being used.

The office is going to be heated and cooled separately 24/7 with a mini-split system. Walls and ceiling will be insulated and sealed well, 6" walls and 12" ceiling with fiberglass. Dry walled and finished interior and sheeting on wall exterior to shop.

The question is, I don't want to have a cold concrete floor in the office. (No I'm not going to use radiant in the floor) I have seen on Holmes on Homes where he uses an XPS foam then plywood ontop of that screwed down for a thermal barrier. He did this in a basement. Is there more to this or is it that simple? Floor would be finished with an industrial type Berber carpeting.

You could try the Dri-Core flooring. 2x2 OSB with the plastic waffle shape on the bottom.

I insulated my previous homes basement floor with simple 1" R8 foam with 1x4 pressure treated boards as a frame work. Nailed OSB flooring to it after that. Worked well.
