Shop Plans

Guys,

I am about to begin building a 32X40X12 Shop. In order to get a building permit, i have to provide plans. I know exactly how I want to lay out shop, but I need a set of plans to use as a template to document my plans.

1) Site plan - No problem, I have these complete

2) Footer plan - I plan to use a local concrete guy to build slab and some driveway at the same time. I assume that he will lay out footers/slab as required as he is the expert. Should I ask him for footer plan?

3) Drawings

A) Building - I have a carpenter that will bring his crew for a couple days to stand walls and trusses. I have engineered drawings for my pre-fab trusses.

B) Electrical - Assuming that I need to mark up my building drawing

Does anyone have a drawing from a similar building that I could use as a template?

I bought a set of plans from menards and turned them in... I started with those (they did show the right dimensions) and added additional things, to which my inspectors had no issue. For instance my plans showed an "open" building but I added a double LVL and ceiling joists, making for an attic that wasn't shown in the plans/ I also went heavier (2X8s instead of 2X6s for rafters, 2X10s for ceiling joists) than code wanted.

Depends on what your local building inspector requires. I drew my building out on graph paper when I went to get building permit and the local inspector was fine with it.

Easy one! Here in Michigan you need

1) Site Plan - Showing Ariel view(sketch) of your proposed building and where you want it on your property.(showing setbacks from property lines)

2) Footing or foundation plans- Block/Slab/Post frame?

3) Cross section view- showing from footing to caps- an inside view of the structure. Footings,Drain tiles,Bottom plate,studs,trusses,wall/roof insulation/trusses,shingles,exterior sheathing & siding.
That should get the Building part started,
The Electrical permit should be separate from your building Structure.
