This is the shop press I grew up with. It was hatched sometime prior to 1980. Always useful, but always filthy.

A few weeks ago, I decided to oil it down and wipe off the grime that had accumulated. That went pretty well, so I cleaned up the handful of accessories that are used with it.

Two of those accessories are in bad shape. I'd love to replace them, but do not know what they would be called. After cleaning, it appears they are also painted Hein-Werner orange.

Looks like a 7" diameter cylinder that had square plates welded to each end before being cut in half and notched. It is extremely useful for automotive wheel bearing replacements. It's also bent.

Thought is that it might be something Hein-Werner made specifically for this press.

Looking for the following:

The proper name for this part
A vintage (mid-70's?) Hein-Werner product catalog that includes presses and accessories
and
Maybe a part number.

Have you ever seen one of these split platforms before?PXL_20220131_034955111.jpgPXL_20220131_035040051.jpgPXL_20220131_035117449.jpg

The reason it’s so useful for splitting bearings is because it is a bearing splitter?……but it’s the Witching Hour here, and I’m Always Wrong!

I was under the impression that the term bearing splitter referred only to one of these things:

Does the platform I'm after fall under the same umbrella, or does its design get marketed under a different name?

It depends on how the bearing is to be removed, either by pushing or pulling, which system is used.

Yes. Will get that tidied up and photographed when I get home this evening. Did you want a profile shot, or a shot of the base from the same angle as above?

Any angle is fine, no tidying needed, particularly on the back side of the press. The back will be the same as the close side in your photo, so no need to move the stuff in back. Thanks.

This should show most of it.

I just found the thread you created regarding yours. Any luck so far in determining who made it?
Nope, no luck, but not a big deal. I was interested in the base on yours to see if it was like mine (it's not). The bottle jack cage on mine is definitely odd. Cool that you've had yours in the family for 40+ years.
