I just won an auction for a 75 ton Dake shop press. Just asking for recommendations for bending dies to use with it. I imagine I will be able to do some serious bending with this thing. LOL

WOW! Very nice work on the tiller arm. I will have to start asking around as to where I can get a punch and die like that. For my 50-ton Carolina hydraulic press I picked up a drop off a 4-way die, and a short section of a used punch. The punch guides I fabricated from mild steel plate and angle. Then I drilled the punch to accept a couple of shackles I had, and suspended it from a couple extension springs and eye bolts. After weighing the punch I knew how much spring force was required. I have bent up to 1/2" stainless in it (tiller arm for sailboat auto pilot, shown, which I also fabricated).
It is pretty easy to switch back and forth so I can also use it as a press. But I get much more use from it with the press brake setup.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is that just a piece of angle welded inside a channel and is everything made from mild steel? I have a bunch of mild steel material up to 1 1/2" to make a beveled punch. I bet I also have a bunch of 3/8" & 1/2" angle on hand, although wider.I bought the Swag off-road finger brake you weld it kit for my 20 ton HF press.
They make a larger, 40 or 50 ton version.
Swag also sells full welded kits.
Not exactly. The channel portion is relatively is simple, but the one I bought is a finger brake, and the fingers are comparatively precision pieces with, I suspect, hardened and precision cut edges.Correct me if I am wrong, but is that just a piece of angle welded inside a channel and is everything made from mild steel?
