I am remodeling the shop/business bathroom and I am installing a shower. I already have the floor pan, I got an acrylic one from HD that goes in the corner. What I'd like to do it come up with something cool yet inexpensive to do the walls. The rest of the shower stall kit would be another $2-300 and I am already into it for too much as it is.
I also am installing a new to me sink, it is a cast iron porcelain sink with the drain boards on each side. I have not built a vanity for it yet either.
The room is stick built and insulated so far. I have not put up any sheet rock or cement board as I am not sure what the plan is yet.
So, any ideas that you have seen and like?

Not too many options I could come with that aren’t the acrylic walls or tile. Probably could do a cheap .69 so ft ceramic, but thinset, backer and some type of waterproofing membrane won’t save you a heck of a lot, esp. considering the time of having to tile. Could look around for solid surface that you could make work, but time and effort would be more than 2-300 bucks. Could use plexiglass but that stuff is expensive! Home Depot has fiberglass panels shaped likes tiles. I have no idea how much they are or if they were designed for a shower. Maybe just caulk real well??

Aluminum tread plate would be cool. Just caulk it. Not sure it would be cheap though. Stainless steel sheets could give it that asylum feel [emoji4]

I would put Hardi tile backer on the walls and tile it. I like subway tile and used it in my shower, but even a small shower takes 500 tiles. To save money, look for some closeout large tiles that are cheap.

I thought about tile, have never done any so have been leary of getting into it and it *********** this even more. There are some discount outlets in my area that usually have tile on hand. None of my friends have done it either so not sure.

I like the subway tile too and I think it would go perfectly with the sink. Can you get it in a preassembled matt, or is it individual pcs?

I see some large tiles pretty cheap, like 18" square ones, I assume that would be easier to install but I think it might look funny.

I have 12" x 24" tile on my shower walls. Looks good. Porcelain tile can look like anything. Marble, granite, concrete, wood, brick, metal, glass. If you can photographic it, they make it.

I ended up getting a blemished -48" fiberglass shower stall from a local plumbing supply company, it was good enough for my barn, you could barely see the two blemishes, I was happy, it was $75, compared to $500 retail price.

Neatest shop shower I've seen was a wet room. In other words, the entire room was the shower stall. Just a floor drain in the sloped slab and a shower head coming out of one wall.

Guy said it was for occasional use so he wasn't worried about water splashing around. Didn't feel it was worth the money for a cramped stall that would take away space from the rest of the room.

I believe his walls were cement board coated with something like Red Guard or Drylok.

This is what I've got planned. Toilet, urinal and shower in one wet room with a long hose/shower head. That way I can clean anything year round. The walls are planed to just use frp over sheetrock.

What better time to learn ? Practice on the garage shower.
