Looking to install a small shop sink in my hangar. I would prefer something other than your standard laundry sink. Can anyone please post pictures of what they have or alternatives? Thank you!

The problem with the laundry tub is, it's too damn low!
So do this: Got the 5X8 island top free off CraigsList, including the stainless sink. Cut it down to 3X8. Used a piece for a shelf over the counter. Sunk a hole in the top for the laundry tub that the wife got for I think $4.00 without legs. I love it.

I thought about using a nice stainless restaurant sink, but even the beat up ones are like $300 on Craigslist. Having a deep sink is very helpful so I just went with the cheap utility sink. d5583bdde8e6db6c7dc33b9610dd102c.jpg

There is nothing wrong with that. Only change may be route the drain out of the way some but no big deal.
I would be lost without sinks, have two in the shop. I like the laundry tub as good as anything but that's not deal breaker either.
Not so much what but where in this scheme.

I hesitated to post for fear of looking stupid, but what the hell.

Why two drains? Or is the one on the right a vent?

If that's meant to be a vent, it's wrong. a vent is on the sewer side of the trap, and should come off the top of the pipe. that could be a drain for a washer or something on the other side of the wall .
Any way, I am using a similar sink as this install, and looking for a base cab for a vanity .

Picked this up on eBay $130 with shipping. It came with legs but I wanted the floor clear. It was advertised as bent. I was able to straighten it in 10 min and built a mounting bracket. I also picked up the eye was attachment on eBay for $30 with shipping. The top SS shelf was pulled out from a firehouse remodel back in 2000. The sink is 16 Ga. SS.

Typical S Cal 3 stall garage with the water heater in the corner which is the single stall. I enclosed the water heater (on the left) and then built a small 'tool closet' (to the right) and bridged the gap in between with a simple sink. The top is 3/4" MDO with a hardwood front edge and painted in black poly. Since the grandkids use it a lot, it now only sees 'light duty' (pic is from this morning)

I built an outdoor sink for all the real dirty work. Simple 2x4 construction with MDO as the top again - unpainted and with exposed edges (I wanted to see how well it holds up to a wet environment, so far so good

I used the standard plastic laundry sink but extended the legs with some aluminum angle. I also went with a pull out faucet to make cleaning easier. I put a full sheet of the plastic laminate used in commercial kitchens to protect the wall from water damage.

Found this old farmhouse sink on Craigslist. Perfect patina. Built the cabinet out of leftovers from the garage build.

I set my tubs on 4x4 with a plywood on top to raise them. Not sure it can be seen here.
That old house sink looks nice

Thanks guys,
The setup is robust and can be used to rinse off shop items. I sat on the bracket prior to mounting the sink. The deeper sink keeps the area clean when cleaning up.

I don't have a picture for you, but I like the idea that you're thinking of something other than the basic plastic laundry sink. I've installed 3 of those at my house and 2 of them have essentially disintegrated over time. The plastic just gets brittle with age and then cracks. Both lasted about 9 or 10 years before they cracked. I replaced one a month or so ago, but haven't gotten to the second one yet.

Most shop sinks I see remind me of this:

I am considering leaving out the sink. Joe's and a towel works.

Yes, the right side is a vent.

It's incorrect . a vent is downstream of the trap . it is meant to keep the trap from siphoning by allowing air in and breaking any siphonic action. that set up is doing nothing as a vent

My bad, that's actually a drain that comes off the HVAC in the attic. Clearly I'm not a plumber.

Here's a pick before the wall was closed up. There is a bathroom on the other side of this wall.

Here is my sink, T&S brand hardware including pre rinse wand. I have it plumbed to a hub style drain that has a mesh screen to prevent debris from going down the drain.

Mine is going to hang off a wall. It is really for a bit of water to get the hands wet. Probably going to add an on demand pump

Has anyone used an on demand pump such as shurflo? Do you have water containers with bulkhead that feeds the pump in a reliable leak free way?

Here’s mine , no room for “real” sink, didn’t want to drain into attached house.
Just needed water for mop (porcelain floor), cooling hot steel, and washing hands.Spray nine bottle for scale, yes it’s a champagne bucket lol:beer:
Sink drains to mop bucket, so whether washing hands or filling bucket to wash floor, it all drains through sink to mop bucket. The sink is a slip fit into wall mount (pvc pipe fittings, no glue )for easy removal. If i need to run a hose, the hose slides up drain and attaches to tap(2boiler valves)
Set up is positioned so my 24” deep toolbox drawers can open fully without hitting sink.
$5 investment for used “sink” but hey its only money!!
Gerry

Tub Sink in the Shop for the really dirty stuff. Made the Stainless Back Splash one weekend at work.

Picked up a cheap and dirty Vanity Sink Combo at Menards on their 11% off deal for the Bathroom. The placement of the Faucet is a little too close to the back of the sink...but it works.

Had to do the traditional "Farm Sink" for the Office area to wash out the Coffee Pot. This was free...the Plumber who supplied the Sink has yet to give me a bill for my entire building. After calling him once a month for a year asking what I owed him I gave up. If I see him in passing someday I'll offer to pay up again...but I quit chasing people I owe money to after 12 months...my rule...LOL...

Wow. Never considered this. Gravity flow would work for me. Thanks! Another problem solved.

I tried gravity also, I hooked the PVC from a bucket into the 2 faucet lines. I have a similar faucet to the picture, these "water fall" faucet don't need alot of pressure. But with gravity I can only get 2 streams to trickle out from the edge of the faucet, perhaps a little silicone to decrease the faucet spout area will work better. You just kind of get a water dispenser kind of flow at best, but nothing wrong with that.

wow, I admire your enthusiasm on that concrete sink.
Mine went out a basement window in pcs when we waterproofed

please be sure it is well anchored to the wall, they are deadly if they tip over

While we are talking about sinks, I have a query to the all knowledgable here.

We have a new-construction place with a 4 car 950sqft attached garage. I had them put a rough in for a wall mount utility sink in the corner between the house entrance and the backyard service door.

Which wall should I put the sink on? Should I put the sink so that you face the mudroom when using it, or so that you face the backyard when using it? I'm torn, I see uses either direction. I do plan to put a hot/cold adjustable hose bib at this spot as well, so I can have hot water for washing cars and other items.

Diagram of the garage is attached.

Aw hell I'll throw my $0.02 in. I got a regular old laundry sink, but since I tend to change layouts in my shop often, I didn't want permanent plumbing.

I bought a 50 foot GOOD rubber hose and snaked it behind my toolboxes. I connected it to the faucet and the other end of the hose connects to the hose bib right outside my garage door. I use a 5 gallon bucket for the drain. At the end of the day, I simply dump the drain water into my plants. Since the sink doubles as a urinal, the plants get free fertilizer :D

I can't believe I waited so long. A sink is one of the best additions I've added to my shop.

I used to have a laundry sink. Got rid of it and replaced it with a small one. I haven't regretted it -- although I don't use it for much more than handwashing and cleaning brushes.

More recently, I've added a Goop dispenser on the wall.
