Hello folks. So I need to wire a Kidde smoke detector RF one in the shop. It will signal another in the house bedroom closest to the shop (30ft). Do I need to have it on a dedicated 15A circuit, or can it share an attic lighting circuit?

Here they used to ask for a dedicated circuit, now they want it on a shared circuit so you can't turn off the breaker without noticing it. all interconnected smokes need to be on the same circuit and not used in unheated spaces.

If you do any welding in the shop won't that cause you some problems with the alarm going off?

Or make sawdust or use spray paint or any aerosols or run a 2 stroke engine?

A heat detector may be a better choice.

A smoke detector implies a device wired to an alarm panel or sometimes a burg panel. Or are these devices smoke alarms?

Well, we have a Fire Marshall Bill character who said I need a system that's tied to the house smoke alarm system. I told him I'd do it just to get him to sign off on the building permit to get this project started. I think I'll wire it with the attic lights and try to get that by the electrical inspector. Worst case, I add another 15A CB and some 14/2. Thanks folks.
