My shop stool is an old hair salon chair with saddle bags installed. Many a plan is hatched here over a beer or whisky.

BTW... there are some pretty nice stools in this thread. The dirt bike shop (burned down recently) that is closest to me has some at the parts counter that were most comfortable. Just the right amount of cushion. They were large industrial springs that had seat cushions attached to the top. I thought they were the coolest things. I've not see any others like it and they were custom. I didn't grab a picture, but should have. They were very cool, but likely won't be in the new shop.
I picked these up from the curb from the trash as a buddy and I were leaving to ride dirt bikes. Also got a cool wooden crate. I use them quite a bit as is. I put up a dart board near the beer fridge..... I have some scrap white wood I'm going to join and plane flat to make some wood tops for them as the hard board ones are beat. I will likely remove the rivets they used and use carriage bolts to attach them. Thinking of making the tops of the bolt look old some how. I will neutralize the rust under the pads and once I attach the tops I will clear the whole thing and put new rubber bumpers on the legs. They are the same ones we had in 8th grade wood shop... just painted and a lot more beat up. They spent time outside for sure.
They will likely end up on the patio at some point to go with a beer bottle camp table I have planned. I found a bistro table with a metal base and a presswood top in the trash. I will be making the wood top and use epoxy for the bottle cap top.
The idea is have all my back yard furniture from the things I found or made myself. If it looks cool I will keep it or if my wife has other ideas it will likely end up for sale on the facebook groups... :-(
New to the collection.. a classic ....vintage... Cosco (Columbus, IN) step stool from my dad and step mom's estate.... cushioned seat and back....

I can't count how many buzz haircuts I got sitting on one of those while growing up.

I would have to go with this one as it matches my UNION 76 theme.

This any closer to the stools you were talking about?![]()
Fantastic thread. The Can-Am garage has 3 stools.
This one came from the kitchen of my house from when I was a child. We had 4 of them at our breakfast counter, and they were divided amongst myself and 2 sisters. It served to feed me, as well as to entertain me as a child - I would lay it on the ground and sit on the rungs and pretend it was a plane, or my Batmobile!

The other two I picked up as a pair for $25 from Kijiji (lovely young lady was cleaning out her basement) are your traditional black vinyl topped stools.

Good story and glad to see you still have it "serving you" in the garage / shop.....![]()

These are showing up as $49.99 for my area. Might go check it out and see how they are.

Picked this up at a industrial fixture store. The guy picks up material from factory closures, think workbenches, lockers, stuff like that. Anyway the store, a storage unit, was packed. I found this under one of the tables in the back. Paid 15 bucks for the patina, or the complete lack of effort cleaning it up.
