I've been looking for a round thermometer, automotive themed, for my garage but all I can find are the vertical ones. The Hot Rod Stuff catalogue from Summit Racing has a '57 Chevy speedo one, set up to be a thermometer but I'm really still looking.

Any ideas as to where one (or given a choice of one) can be found?
Thanks,
Greg Z

Good luck on that , Bill. We were just looking for one ourselves for the mother in law. She needed something big becase of the macular degeneration. I looked all over. The largest I found was 2" high numbers and it was still close to 300 bucks.

Have fun with the hunt. sometimes thats the best part.

I bought an outdoor one from Home Depot where they keep the pool stuff. Paid three bucks for the small one, about 4" dia. They had a large one for seven I recall.Took it apart, customized it and I'm good to go. Made it my own and it was cheap - I love it. Also, Ive checked it against another expensive thermometer and it is accurate.

They show up at my swap meet in Commerce all the time. (Next swap meet is Saturday, Sept. 1--next weekend. Send me your email for more info)

I've gotten several signs and a vintage light-up Quaker State wall clock (lit from behind with a round florescent tube).
I already had a round Fleetwing thermometer, but over the last year I could have had my pick of many others.

I'd like to make something that looks "old" or specific mostly for show but that'll be a winter project. Since I use my to mentally regulate when to throw a log on the fire, I prefer to have something digital so I can read the exact temp.
I picked this up awhile back and it works great for me.

I bought a outdoor one at Lowes on clearance fairly cheap. Its about 12-14 inches dia. I put it outside and when the sun hits it the needle almost pegs! If its in the shade its pretty accurate. What can you expect from a cheap piece of junk.

Any thermometer will read inaccurate if placed in the Sun, that's why they are to be placed in the shade to get a proper reading.
