Hello all
Now that I have a rack in m garage, I have been looking for an oil change container that will hold about 5 gal. of oil that will roll up under the car while on the lift.

I have not been able to find such an item. Can anyone help me with a link or suggestion where I can look?

Thanks to all
Dan

This is the one I picked up. It is larger then 5 gal but it's a really nice tool and I don't normally praise HF stuff but this is well made.

I just have to say it
Look at this link

Sorry but I could not resist.

That is insane for a home shop guy to even consider spending that much money on something like that for a home shop, truely the S/O name just does not make a lick of difference for something like that. I have passed on several of those I could have bought for cheap money through the years because I do not have a lift in my garage, and probably never will.

For anyone looking for something like that if the HF unit will not do for you I would say check with the state surplus property section in your state and start watching what is available for sale to the general public. I would bet that one of those will come up for no more than $40-$50 bucks at the state surplus. At least that is where I saw most of them used here in KS.

(Hell, it's a Damned used oil container for crying out loud, no more than a fancy bucket with wheels!)

Need I mention that this is the stripped down version and does not include the "bucket". Personally, I think for $400. plus, it ought to at least be motorized with remote control.

Question...where do most of you do with the oil once in the container? Would love to get one, but have no clue where or how to take it somewhere.

Check with different places of business. A lot of gas stations etc. that does oil changes have waste oil heaters that they use in winter. If you can prove to the person that it is oil with no water, antifreeze, or gas in it, then they look forward to taking it. Also a lot of the smaller independent garages that do auto repairs use waste oil heaters.

Our local Kragen will take it but they seem very picky about the container you bring them in, I put in some milk bottles and they refused to take it. So I just bring the whole drain pan or the bottle that new oil came in.

Might also check Northern Tool and Tool Warehouse. My community has a "Citizens Convenience Center" that takes small loads of refuse, as well as auto fluids, batteries, etc. for recylcing. There are also a few waste oil recovery business in the area that will take waste fluids.

In the Atlanta areas and I suppose most other places, many auto parts places take the used oil. Around here, Auto Zone and Advance both take it, max, 4 gal a day.

I supose I could say I already made 2 of them things, but if I did somebody would want complete build instructions and locations to get the parts. Actually, I was building them before Northern or Harbor Flotsum came out with the idea.

Damn, maybe I oughta go into the business of selling instructions to build equipment on the internet.

Anybody in my area with good waste oil containing no antifreeze or brake fluid I'll be happy to provide drop off location. The burners go thru a gallon every hour of burn time.

What did you search for on e bay to find this?
I can't seem to find any

Thanks

Search Ebay Motors for "waste oil drain" Looks like their up a bit to $120
with shipping.

Really is a nice piece,I've had 3 friends with lifts buyem and the only issue
was the teflon tape they used on the pipe fittings. No biggy, redid them with
teflon paste and no leaks at all.

BTW I've had it for about 3 yrs. now.

I drain oil into a 2gal bucket I got at Big Lots for $1 then pour it into a 5 gal plastic jug. I take it to Autozone. They don't even look when I come in. I walk in, go to the back and dump it in their big tank.
