To be honest, Tom (BB767) doesn't have time to get on the other parts of the GJ forum because he's posting on his Garage Gallery thread, working his "day" job, drag racing, or working out at the property (or spending time with me!). Any time spent on other parts of the forum takes time away from his passion(s). If I see something that makes me go "WOW", I'll send him a link. He peeks at the threads of posters on our thread and responds individually to them.
Just going through Garage Gallery and looking at the threads with lots of "hits" will get you on overload very quickly. I think I could spend all my time on this forum and not get anything else done except enhance my education! You never stop learning, it's self-paced, and there are no tests (well, except on our thread Restored 1930's Auto Shop!). I've got at least 25 threads bookmarked and they seem to be the ones that continue to be bumped up. They're not all high-count threads, but seem to have a common element of "human interest" or "inspired design" that caught my eye (Broadway Wrecker, 12-gauge garage, 70-7ear-old couple, modern garage in far east are just a few).
I think if everyone just put one or two pictures of their shops on this thread (esp before-after pics) with no verbage, it would not have the impact or detail that make each thread a joy to read through. Pictures of a shop are just that, pictures. There's no soul to it without the verbage.
The cool thing about this forum is the personal connections we've made this past 10 months. We may not have met someone in person, but have come to be friends due to having similar interests. Sharing our project makes it seem more worthwhile. It may seem like work to some, but we've found a common understanding on this forum that one person's "fun" or "passion" is anothers "work". Yes, we've restoring and upgrading the property for us, but it's fun sharing it, too.
