Not sure if this is the right place for this. We are always hearing about lousy customer service and I thought it would be nice to tell you about good customer service :)

I have a Shop Vac at the shop that is at least 10 years old and believe me it has not had an easy life. One of the supports that holds the casters finally gave it up so I went to the Shop Vac site to buy a new one. I couldn't find my model number (probably too old) so I asked a question with their support form. Within the hour I got a response and I told them what I was looking for. 15 minutes later I got an e-mail basically telling me that the part was on its way to me NO CHARGE !!

I know this is probably a part that costs them a dollar or two, but there is shipping involved and I was fully prepared to but it.

Cant ask for any better service :) I have been looking for a new garage vac for the house and you can bet your rear that it will be a Shop Vac.

One of my co-worker's husband's works at Shop Vac as an engineer, he says it's a pretty good place to work for. Always good to hear stories like this.

Who is the parent company of Shop-Vac these days?

They're only "assembled in the USA with global components" now, but I think they're the only mainstream company that even assembles wet/dry vacs in the US.

EDIT - It appears they may still be an independent company. There are multiple places on the website where it says "Shop-Vac® Corporation" and I don't see any listed parent company, but I didn't look too hard.

DOUBLE EDIT - Stupid me, I forgot about Dustless Technologies. They make wet/dry vacs that are USA made.

My fancy HEPA-rated vac for lead paint removal is a Dustless Vac and I've been pretty happy with it.

I like my shopvac. Fair price, good product and now I hear great service, never had a reason to look somewhere else.
