Is there a shortage of shop type vacuums??? Could this be the reality of the tariffs and the China situation??? I mentioned in another post one of my vacs $hit the bed so I ordered two Shop-Vac brand vacs from Lowes. The email confirmation said they were backordered...

So, no big deal, I can always use an extra vac. Go to Home Depot's web site see if they have any deals and notice their "Special Buy" is out of stock locally and online. Called Home Depot customer service and to ask how long it will be out of stock. He said he didn't know but with out prompting he offered a better model, for less than the Special Buy price. Done deal! he said it should arrive on the 30th which was two day shipping. All this took place yesterday on the 28th, Ridgid vac arrived yesterday the 29th so... one day shipping. I complain about Home Depots crappy lumber but I have never ever been disappointed in Home Depots ability to satisfy me as a customer.

Now back to addressing the two vacs on order at Lowes, called Lowes customer service again, ask if they had a similar deal on another vac she said no but I would be notified when the two vacs I ordered come in... Last night I got an email that sounded like we're canceling the order... kinda got the feeling it was a go screw yourself notice these are never gonna be in stock. That email is in quotes below if you are interested. Call Lowes Customer service and again in response to the email and ask again if they could give a similar discount on another vac. She offered a lesser vac at more than double the special price... I asked her to ship the two I ordered when they are available. We'll see what happens.

Lowes email:
"Unfortunately, your item(s) are no longer in stock. We're making every effort to get your item(s) to you as quickly as possible; however, we're unsure when your item(s) will be back in stock and ready for you. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and understand you may need to change or cancel your item(s) due to this delay.
If we haven’t heard from you or shipped the merchandise within 72 hours (3 days) of this email, your item(s) will be canceled.
To keep your item(s) and avoid cancellation, please call Lowe's Customer Care at 1-800-445-6937, or forward this email to [email protected] and request to keep your order placed.
We value you as a customer, and thank you for shopping with Lowe's".

I'm in a similar boat. I ordered the 12g Shop vac for a house job I need to finish. I forwarded the email along woth my response to not cancel. No response, no confirmation, no nothing. I haven't called yet but that will probably get blown off too.

What vac did you get from home depot?

I ordered a 10g Dewalt from Amazon and it was here in 2 days. Maybe it’s a Lowes supply issue?

If it was a "Black Friday" deal, sometimes companies will order a product just for BF. The ad is usually followed by "while supplies last". Lowes does this with vacs. With the advent of internet orders, some of the good deals are gone by midnight before the store opens. There is no way they can know how many to order. These deals are designed to bring cust. into the store on BF, not just to give you a good deal. They are also known as "loss leaders" meaning they don't make any money, with the before hours internet order happening don't be surprised to see these deals go away or be advertised as in store only. I have seen stores compensate for sell outs, but that is a store to store basis. HD may not have known it was a LL so feel lucky you got over on them. Your order may have been 1/1000 in the district. Rant if you want(sometimes it feels good), just understand why they do what they do.

I started at Ace Hardware near the house... Then off to Lowes then Home Depot in Washington PA,,, and one more try the Home Depot in Bridgeville... They were all out of the sale priced vac except a little 3 gallon job that would not meet my needs. Then! Brain strom... check Amazon and the other "Black Friday online deals.

Maybe Im a cheapskate but I always buy the "Special Buy" or whats on sale at Lowes. The specials usually have a small hose but I don't use it anyway and usually cost half what the same not on sale spec vac costs...

I use clear 20ft hoses that suit my purpose better or short runs for single tool use. Tools that get used a lot are hooked up to a dust collector instead of a vac. Just way more convenient for me.

Never rely on Black Friday merchandise to be available in unlimited quantities. Most sales like this have the “while supplies last”, or “limited quantities “ disclaimer for a reason.

If you need a shop vac, there are plenty available at regular prices, or, consider yourself lucky to find one on sale the moment you need it.

Life’s not always fair.

Just checked my order for this shop vac at Lowe’s and it is still “in process”. I have not received an email cancellation or any other form of communication from Lowe’s other than the email confirmation of my order on Wednesday. Could it be based on the regional warehouse stock rather than the entire warehouse system?

My Lowes and Home Depot had a mountain of the Was $99.00 now $39.00 for the black Friday sales. I pick one up every year.... got mine on Wednesday at Lowes because "if it's on the floor we'll sell it". They were no longer available on Monday but I bet they reappear a couple of days before Christmas!

Well I finally received my Lowe’s email tonight. I understand the limited quantities, etc, but with the software/inventory tracking systems available today the retailer should easily be able to tell when an item has sold out online. This appears to be no understanding of their warehouse inventory level versus online sales.

Again I don’t believe the deal on this shop vacs was that great because the specs were comparable to other shop vac normally selling in this price range.

Yeah, also goes the other way, they had a pretty good deal imho,
might be still going onwith a Bosch drill combo where you also get another tool for free.
I was tempted because one of the free tools to choose from was a rotary hammer drill which they normally sell for $199.
According to their website that was sold out online and no store around here had one.
Went in the closest one because I needed to and they had 2 rotary drills sitting there.

I get the inventory control/update delays because of the multiple warehouse facilities, individual store stock but mostly their "on demand" requirements from suppliers... So, OK that's what it takes to be competitive today and I get that too... What I'm not good with is when a retailer, Lowes in this case feel no need to make it up to their customers caught in their problem... Home Depot did the right thing without me even asking. I will go out of my way to get to a Home Depot even if I pass a couple of Lowes on the way.

I recently picked this up at Wally world and have zero complaints about it. I'm not sure what kind of deal you were getting but these are always in stock.

That is pretty nice for $65. I like the cart style handle but I really don't need it for may purpose as mine will be pretty much stationary. I don't even put the wheels on them. The two I ordered from Lowes were the same style, 6hp, 12 gallon but 1-7/8 hoses and no cart, just wheels for $39.98 ea.
