Hi,
I'm not sure if this post should be in the classifieds section or not, if so - feel free to delete it :) Anyways, I want to try some of the HF tools but live in Sweden, is there anyone who wants to buy some tools for me and send them to Sweden (against payment for the tools, shipping and an extra bonus of course)

Maybe not just tools from HF, you guys have many tools that can't be found here.

If you want to help me, please send a PM.

I don't know that many of the tools at HF are worth going through all that trouble. But to each their own I guess. What interests you about HF tools?

No I'm afraid that the shipping costs may be quite high but interested in more stuff from USA also (Tekton wrenches etc.)

Some of the stuff from HF I'm interested in are the color coded sockets, can't find something like that here in Europe. :)

Try searching eBay. There's a lot of harbor freight stuff. Many sellers will ship internationally.

I agree, it's not really worth the trouble. The colored sockets aren't really that special. The coating is cheap and thin and will wear off fairly quickly with use.

Ok, maybe I have to reconsider, but the Tekton wrenches? If I buy them from eBay there is really high shipping and import taxes. Is there any other high vis 1/4 sockets you can recommend (doesn't need to be colored).

Re: Shopping at Harbour Freight

It's possible for me to order from Amazon but a 30$ tekton set cost around 60$ extra just for shipping and import fees.

Harbor freight doesn't ship internationally but to be honest I'm not really interested in their sockets anymore after reading some more.

I can get facom and Bahco locally (and the German brands) but they are much more expensive than Tekton and it's really hard to find some nice Taiwan made sets in SAE here in Europe, metric wouldn't have been a problem.

Thank you guys for all tips and ideas, it's really appriciated!

I'm not sure, but I have sent some packages to USA in approximately the same size and weight and that didn't cost anywhere close to 60$, more around 20$ if I remember correctly. But you're probably right, suppose it would be easier to find something locally.

Interesting. You're surrounded locally by ultra high quality French and German made tools; which would be a dream come true for some of us here in the United States; yet you desire to obtain some Taiwan made Tekton.

I don't know what it costs to ship internationally in other countries, but it's pretty expensive in the US to ship international. Often prohibitively expensive, especially for larger/heavier items. For low value heavy items, it doesn't really make much economic sense to ship.

I sell a lot of stuff online, and occasionally I get asked to sell internationally, and the answer is usually "no." Most people don't want to hear the crazy postage prices.

Considering Your local choices; The thought of Importing Asian made bargain line tools from the USA has My head shaking sideways, and the "no way" out of My mouth comes naturally.

Have you checked your local E-Bay? You might be able to find a local seller within your country that handles all the major importing fees already.

It's normally more expensive to ship from the US to Europe. Also, you're pretty likely to get hit with a duty. It's not worth it at all.

A great deal of HF or Tekton is from China or Taiwan. Don't you have tool importers in your country? It seems rather the long way around to get Asian tools from the US. Of the two Tekton is the far better choice as they stand behind their products. HF is hit or miss and often tools must be returned to get a good one, not something you want to get involved in from thousands of miles away. Lack of quality control and product support is what makes the prices look so atractive.

I would love to have German tools but they are really expensive and I can't afford it even if I wanted to. I've actually found Tekton stuff on the British Amazon so I think I will buy from there. We have many importers of Asian tools but it's hard to find SAE sets, almost everything is metric.

Yes, SAE sockets, long and short, 1/4 and 3/8 drive and a set of combination wrenches.

Re: Shopping at Harbour Freight

Its easy enough to buy Tekton here and they're good tools for the price but i wouldn't spend too much on them.

I would also really like the ability to buy harbour freight kit, they're pro ratchets look very good for the money and i haven't been able to find anything like them for sale over here, although i can find the composite ratchets for some reason, just not the chrome with comfort grip and no quick release. I priced to buy a few things to be sent it to a shipping company in the US and they would forward it on, for the weight it would be however it just wasn't economical, that and they would have no warranty.

There should be plenty of good cheap tools on Ebay and the like however, i can type in 72t ratchet and loads come up that have the same movement as in the harbour freight, just in a different body. Plenty of good deals on sockets too, i picked these up at the tail end of last year;

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-2-inch...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

They ship from the UK but it'll all be from China, undoubtedly there's a few people out there selling them. There's sellers in china that'll send £10 tools out for free, god knows how they do it and make a profit.

Not coloured, but you can paint them! :D This kind of stuff must be also available in Sweden, this was only after some minutes in google. I think that if you are looking for something more special you'll have to dig your pockets deeper.

Thank you guys for all responses! I have found some tools on the UK eBay now, even if I'm not sure about the quality. Finland is to far away unfortunately ;), actually it's really hard to find some ok SAE sockets for a ok price. I've found some sets from toolzone but they doesn't look very nice, I would love to have colored or with big text. But I will keep looking, in worst case I will buy from my local toolstore and ask for a price on Bahco sockets.

Your local Bahco dealer might be a good place to look, here they are selling USA made sockets (SO connections?) for about 70€ a normal metric set 1/2". They seem to have standard also listed on website. They look quite nice.

For that price range you can also check tbs aachen and search for individual sockets.

Re: Shopping at Harbour Freight

A small update, I ordered some Tekton stuff and will hopefully recieve it next week. Ordered their stubby ratcheting wrenches also but didn't realize until now that they are 6pt (using for aviation). Looking forward to see how the Tekton tools are.

One more question about HF stuff, hopefully someone can prove me wrong but I can't find a worklight similar to their Braun Flexible, is such thing existing?
If someone wants to help me out I would love to have two of them :)

Problem is, shipping from outside to USA can be cheap... subsidized country shipping... but not the other way around. It is expensive as all hell to ship from USA to any place outside of USA. Heck, costs shipping within USA is expensive too.

Don't worry about it. You're not missing out on any thing. There are some decent buys at Harbor freight, along with a bunch of junk, and lately even a few decent tools that are way over priced. But there are no must haves at Harbor freight. I think you guys in Europe that are jonesing for Harbor Freight would be seriously dissapointed if you visited a store. The only thing that is truly unique about Harbor Freight is the smell.

Re: Shopping at Harbour Freight

What he said is correct. Hf is like a flea market here in the USA. It really is only for two type of people: 1) those who can afford nothing more ( I think there are very few people in this group). 2) the rest of us who could and probably should shop elsewhere but simply cannot resist the temptation to see what JUNK harbor freight is currently offering at ridiculously low prices. We could give you a list of what NOT to buy: basically the whole store. Much easier to say what actually works: most of this is just too heavy for shipping and as mentioned above, you gotta be near the store so you can drive back and return it before using it because you took a closer look and found it to be **** when you got home. Earthquake impact wrenches are good if not great for the price with coupon but I can never keep a current coupon with me when I go to that store ( can’t imagine doing it from Sweden) . Also the pro series impact sockets are good if not great for the price. Still if I was in Sweden, I would rather purchase sunex online. Hf has no polish, no finish at all. Everything in the store is weird, and if it wasn’t basically free for us here at home in USA , I think it would be foolish to buy anything. Shoot, I think it is foolish every time I have pulled in to thei parking lot. Like I said, the place is similar to a flea market, but really a flea market is better because most of hf should be banned from sale for intended purpose for safety concerns.

Wera makes color coded sockets, infinitely better than anything HF and available all over Europe. You'll thank me later.

This. Geodre, Bahco, Fahcom, Hazet, yaddayaddayadda ... There is no justification in mailing you a case of spam, when you already got spiral ham. If cost is the issue, the fact you can’t get warranty claims should be enough to discourage this idea, amazon tekton is the best route

Some of the earthquake impacts are good. Shockingly good things for the money, ratchets, tool boxes, the blue screwdrivers with striker plates, but most stuff is pure junk.
