I don't have much vertical space in my attic but would like to install an air compressor up there. I already have a 220 volt plug available and would like to go with a 220 volt compressor so I can have 10+ CFM available. However, I don't have the vertical space for a typical 60 gallon vertical unit. I have about 5' max vertical space. And...I'd like to keep the price under $700 because I don't use a compressor all that much.

Anyone have a suggestion regarding an air compressor that would fit in this space?

Look for something with a 40gal vertical tank such as this:

I would never put a compressor in the attic. It will shake your entire house! If I really had to, I would hang it off the ceiling using spring isolators.

However, how often are you going to climb into the attic to drain it, so the tank doesn't rust out on the bottom and explode into the garage while you are using it?

Run the main feed line down to the main level out of the bottom drain line...water will make its way down...ball valve on a drip leg and no problems.

Solution . . . . . Horizontal tank.

Bingo...I've got a 60 Gal Vertical under my stairwell...I'd LOVE to get a horizontal, but nobody makes an affordable horiz....I keep my eye out on CL for a nice Horiz tank setup...even if only a bare tank I can build.
