IMHO, the average DYI/Homeowner would be better off with 2 drills. A "lightweight" (12V) 3/8" battery drill and a heavy duty, TRIPLE GEAR REDUCTION, corded, 1/2" hammer drill. The triple gear reduction is hard to find, but it will be worth the search.

I love the impact driver for sockets and even for wood screws. Can't live without it now.
