Got a new house and need to put a shed in the side yard. Side yard is 8' wide and runs 60' from front yard to back yard. So shed will probably be 4' wide and 8' long and sit up against the outside wall. We've got 6' high cement block walls between houses. HOA requires the shed to be lower than the wall. The side yard is also the drainage path from back yard to front yard. So I need to keep it up off the ground a little bit. So I'm looking at roughly 4' x 8' x 6' high.
How do I get the most usable space in a short shed? WAF will be a factor, so it has to least look decent. (will paint the shed to match the house).
I see lots of awesome shed plans and would love to build 8'x8'x8' w/ a 2x6 framed base, 3/4" plywood floor, 3/12 pitch 2x4 roof, etc. But that eats up a lot of height and I've got to shrink it to 6' tall.
Should I build w/ 2x3 framing to save a few inches? Or is it not worth the small savings and just use a 2x4 frame for the floor + truss? I'm still deciding whether to build a lean-to or gable roof. Or even some sort of semi-flat roof if it would look nice. Any suggestions?
