Short socket adapter?

I am often using my 3/8 socket adapter with my cordless impact (quick chuck type) when working on my car, but find that the socket adapter I have is too long for my drill to fit into smaller spaces. I've searched for a small adapter but can't seem to find one. What are you guys using? (aside from a dedicated impact driver)

I use the same thing...the one that comes in the 3 pack of 1/4, 3/8, & 1/2". I did not look at them just now, but could you grind some of the shaft down...maybe gain a half inch or so? You'd have to grind a slot for it to catch on as well.

IDK of any other options....

Nitewolf, Looking back I think that would have been the better option.

cmandp, that dewalt one is the shortest I've seen yet, thanks I may have to check it out...

Mohawk Dave, TwoInch, That is so simple yet I think the best idea... Gonna do that right after work.

Are you using a drill or one of the newer drivers. I am supprise at how well the new Porter Cable 18v driver is. The kit with drill, driver and light is about $120 on Amazon. I have professional models but was given this one because the person knew I wanted a cordless driver The ****** think will take your arms off. It really has guts and is shortrer than the drill form point of socket to the back end. You might want to get a crodless driver if you are having space problems. I have a dozen proter cable saws, routers and things in my wood shop but I was down right supprised at how well the cheap version of theirs really works. For the home owner it is fantastic. I gave them to my grand sons as gifts last Christmas. They are in thier 20's
