Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to store a car cover while you're "out for a ride?"

I'm not going to roll it up tight enough to go in the storage bag, but it's rather bulky.

It will be in a clean environment, so some kind of open wall rack would suffice.

What do you do with yours?

I bought a custom cover for my car and it came with a pretty large cloth storage bag with a draw string so I roll it up like you have it then stuff it in the bag. so maybe you could find a drawstring bag that is large enough to fit it easily. the down side to trying to hang it someplace is at least for me it would always end up on the floor. and a dirty cover scratches.
of course my shop is nowhere near as clean as yours.

A simple solution would be to pick up one of the larger Rubbermaid Storage bins.

Not exactly pretty, but should keep it clean.

Not to get way off topic, but I've seen some pictures of your '71 from your garage build thread. Did that car by chance previously belong to a guy named Dale. Believe I have seen you at some of the local shows.

... and back to the original topic...

I just roll mine loosely when I remove it and put it on the nearest handy object until I return from my drive. Then I can unroll it just reverse of the way I took it off.

You are correct. We bought it from Dale in Oregon 10 years ago.
The only car show that we go to anymore is Amboy Depot Days.

This year the original purchaser of the car showed up, and just after he left, the third owner stopped by. I know 4 of the 5 previous owners.

Gary, it's good to see you posting over here. We haven't been back to ND since the time I visited you. The son, and our 2 grandsons are still out there, but he's trying to move back this way.

I'm thinking that i may try to come up with some kind of folding shelf that will hold the covers, but can be flipped up so they can't be used for anything else. I don't want anything stored long term in that room.

Hope he manages to move closer to home. With Pacific Decadal Oscillation going into the cold cycle, we expect lots of old fashioned cold winters up north for the next 30 years. People who don't like lots of snow and cold won't want to be here for a while.

with a garage that spacious and that clean, your cars don't need a cover, drive them, dont cover them.

The only time I cover my car in the garage is when doing lots of woodworking or other really dirty stuff like that. Other than that I see no reason to cover them and scratch them (yes covers do scratch).

I fold mine up as I take it off the car, and set it on the seat of the tractor.....go ride...home and then recover.

you're just asking for scratches using any kind of cover..

Sorry guys - I have covered my cars for years and although maybe some kind (not sure which) covers could scratch, I've never seen it. I think what can scrathc them is dirt getting through the cover.

I cover my "finished" cars when they are in storage. The key is to double cover them, so that grinding, sanding and other dust doesn't settle on them and get through the cover. If it's clean under a soft cover, I can't see how it could scratch!
