Shortened mini-split lines to 14' = remove refrigerant?

I just got done installing a 24K Gree mini-split in my 24x24 garage. I had everything in place except the lines then scheduled a company to come hook up the lines & finish it off. They canceled on me so I finished it off. Installed the line set, pressure checked with nitrogen, vacuumed to 372 microns & held 382 after 15 minutes so opened the valves to release the refrigerant in the condensor.

The manual says the unit is factory charged for 25' with a minimum of 10'. If going past 25' it gives an oz/ft of refrigerant to add. But it doesn't say anything about removing refrigerant if shortening the lines under 25'...I cut them to approx 14'. Am I good with the install as it is or do I need to have someone come adjust the charge?

You cut them to 14', that is longer than 10' so you are good.

Just asking to educate myself . . . . .

If you shorten the lines, don't you lose all of the refrigerant that is in the lines and then have to re-evacuate the system and recharge ? I cant visualize how you would shorten them without doing this ?

Just curious.

Not pre charged lines, Simple copper tubing than needs to be flared.

I asked the same question, just because the directions do not say something, does not mean much to me anymore! Got the same answer, refrigerant does not need to be removed. Under 10 feet of line can cause noise transmission issues, so best to stay above 10 feet.

I believe some brands of minisplits have charged lines but I’m not positive. The one I installed is a Gree and the charge is in the condenser with valves on each port. I ran the lines, pressurized with nitrogen to leak check, then vacuumed. After confirming it held a vacuum with a micron gauge I opened the valves to release the refrigerant into the system.

After 20+ years of wishing I had an air-conditioned shop I finally get it done. And I spent the last five days sweating my beep off working nights at my day job in the heat finishing up a side project. Ugh

Thank you for the advice everyone. That is what I understood from the directions but I was told I was wrong by a professional so I thought I better check.
