Well, my Mr Cool is giving a bit of issues. It didnt really want to turn back on this summer (it comes on and off at time) but I found that the larger line on the condenser seems to be freezing up. Couple people told me its probably a little low on coolant. While I was out there the loop of excess coil was really bugging me and I was thinking if Im going to buy gauges and refill the thing, I might as well shorten the lineset to a proper length. Theres probably 15+ feet of excess lineset that is (and has been) looped standing vertically. Reading online that vertical loops can cause trapping of oil.

Anyways, anyone see any issues of pumping down the unit and shortening the lineset to a proper length?

How long is the line set to begin with. You have 15 extra feet? Is this a 25 foot line set. Did it come with the unit or did you buy it separately. If you added a longer line set than what the unit came with, you need to adjust the charge. But that is done by weighing it in. I defiantly would shorten it to get the extra coil out of there. Yes, it can trap oil. The minimum length is 10 ft. for a line set. Is this a DIY or non DIY. Maybe post some pictures
