I installed a 24" down rod because of the 12' ceilings but they seem to low... If I were to go with the 12" down rod that came with the 72" fans should I expect a decrease or increase in fan volume? IE air moved..

I would expect the total amount of air moved to be pretty close to identical, but with the fans at a lower level, they are of course closer to your body so you will feel stronger "wind" when the fans are set in the downward direction.

I have 14' ceilings and with a downrod even with the garage door tracks, 24"?, I don't feel enough wind. Sure, the air gets stirred and temps even out but you lose that blast effect so I would hang them as low as possible without putting them in harm's way. If you find that you are hitting them during activities then raise them up.

Remember though that once you cut those wires to raise them up, you can't easily add wire length to put them back.

Leave them low!

The blast effect has a lot to do with how comfortable you will feel on a hot day. How about installing a wall mounted oscillating fan in one or two areas where you spend the most time?

Similiar to this fixed position fan. 24 inch diameter, moves over 5000 cfm.

Agreed... I plan on having at least one four post lift in the front part of the garage. So I'm worried about them being low enough to hit a car while its up in the air
