Anyone have any experience with low clearance sockets? Just saw a set at O'reilly in SAE and in metric for $24.99 that look really nice but since I have ratcheting wrenches do I need these?

LordPsychon,

Are you referring to this Powerbuilt low profile, metric socket set available at most O'Reilley stores: LINK?

I do not own this set. I have no idea if their claim of a 30% reduction in height compared to a conventional socket is true.

However, I own and had great success in DIY automotive maintenance with the 3/8" drive Gearwrench Vortex locking flex ratchet and socket set in limited access situations.

If you would like to read a discussion on the advantages of the Gearwrench Vortex ratchet versus ratcheting wrenches, here's the link: LINK.

Here is a current deal at NAPA for either the 1/4" or 3/8" drive Gearwrench locking flex ratchet and socket sets: LINK.
