Shot Blasting using a Blastrac 1-8DEZ

Hi I rented one of these to prepare my concrete floor. The salesperson never used one and gave me no information.
Sure enough the thing was not set up properly. The front wheels held it off the floor about 1 inch so the shot just blew out the front and sides. I lowered the wheels and it still does not seem to work like I would expect with alot of shot coming out.It's the weekend and they are closed so can anyone tell me what adjustments are on this machine?
It doesn't seem as powerful and smooth as I expected and how much pellets should be coming out.

yes it does but mine has alot more shot around the floor.

What about the distance from the floor to the bottom of the machine...

Have you checked the vacuum? Does it ****? (in a good way)... lol...

Does the vacuum control the flow of the beads or just remove the dust and paint? I am using a wood flooring vacuum which is pretty powerful.

I have the front wheels adjusted as low as I can so that its not dragging. It looks like the picture above is doing a far better job. I had some blue painters tape and it didn't take it off cleanly.

You would think there would be a online manual for an expensive tool like this.



Are there any adjustments other than the wheel?

Well I found the problem, the impeller on the bottom that shoots the beads was worn out so much that the beads were just passing through it. So much for using it this weekend, I had to grind a 600 foot floor on my knees.

I rented the same thing this weekend. After 15 sec it broke. Blasted a 3x8 inch area to hell in the few seconds it worked. I would say if anyone rents one do some test spots in a far away corner it can jack up your floor pretty fast. Anyway I called & they said it can be fixed in 10 days or a credit back. Got the credit & went to home depot for a few gallons of acid to etch.

Did about lil more than half of my 40x30 this afternoon... the other bit tomorrow... Then any suspect areas will be hit with the angle grinder with diamond carbine blade. I was hoping to avoid using it to much more as the dust is terrible.

I could go back into Austin & rent a 12 inch grinder but at this point to pissed off for another trip. The acid, pressure washer & angle grinder are doing a good job.. on the floor & my back haha.

Already have off half of next week to finish up the epoxy.

I ended up acid etching & grinding a bit too... FLoor looks good.

I finished last sat am. Moved my tool box & stuff back in today along with my dirtbikes & GTO.

Gotta love rental places. They claim you can't have a machine that just came back from rental because they need to do "preventative maintenance" on it first and won't be ready until some other time. Then, you rent the machine and it friggin doesn't work or it's broken.

The same BS happened to me with my floor grinder, but I made some "modifications" to take care of the issue.

* Be careful on your knees. * Wear pads. I didn't and now have arthritis in my knee from doing my garage floor.
