I wish they still allowed the comments. There seemed to be a ton more activity when it was allowed as well. I know I spent a lot more money when you could comment as there were more items for sale.

I personally liked the ability to comment on items. Has personally saved me in the past from buying from a scammer.

I personally won't buy when I can't ask the seller a question on an open platform. With no comments, I'm forced to get any information that may be left out privately, hoping they are getting their e-mail, replying back and forth, and hoping they're not scamming me of the money for the item.

With a comments section, I'd be much more willing (and I do make purchases on other forums) to buy something after seeing it, nobody coming in to warn others of a known scammer, to see if someone else had the same questions as me so I know ahead of time if I'm interested, etc. Plus, as a historical piece, I can see roughly what my item is worth based on what they were listed (sold?) previously at.

I'm for open commenting, if its still a topic of discussion.

It did seem there was more activity when replies were allowed. But the people bagging on the posters item or price was out of control. And probably a reason why it was changed. Even though it was against the rules people couldn't help themselves and Im sure the mods were way too busy cleaning those up.

Why not? Makes sense to have the forum be as useful as possible. Instead of answering the same question numerous times, post it once and be done. If one person had the question, others probably do too.

I would assume the following:

Traffic is good; more traffic is better.

More comments leads to more posts.

More posts lead to more search (engine) results, which again, leads to more traffic.

Anyone commenting should be required to be making an offer. If it's $ 100 and you think it's worth $ 80 and the seller will sell it at $ 80, you should be able to pay for it. If not, then move on.

The site is run well with few rules, but keeping a buy/sell area here is a benefit to members and will keep some members active here.

A market where the seller is effectively deaf-mute and either takes your money and ships or no transaction takes place, is not in-line with a welcoming community. Having Free Parking is a necessary part of having that.

I think the votes speak for themselves. As for why there aren't thousands of votes, the higher-volume sub-forums here are where that would occur, not this one.
