I just had a 18x40 slab poured for garage yesterday. They knew I was adding a lift so they cut 1 control cut down the middle long ways and also 1 down middle short ways. They did it cause the cut would have been at 10ft and lift is going at 12ft. I am kinda wondering if I should have had them go ahead and cut that 10 and 30ft long ways.

What you guys think ???

Recommendations for CJ spacing start at 8-12' but with some attention to overall crack control, you can spread them out to 15' or more. Keep the panels created by the CJs as square as possible with a maximum ratio of length to width of 1.5 to 1.

You probably should add two more cuts. You are fine the long way with a 9' width but you want the panels to be as square as possible and 20' is too long. Don't wait too long though. Cracks happen early.
