Work has put this up for bid. Min. bid $200. Is it worth the money? Big, bulky unit on a tool around cart. Do live in the country and have a fair amount of old machinery that's needs help from time to time.
Any opinions out there? The good, the bad, the ugly?

Does it work? What all is included? If it is a running machine with basic accessories and you can get it for a few hundred go for it. There ain't much it can't weld. I'm a huge fan of the old syncrowave machines.

However, it is big and bulky, parts are $ and you will need at least a ~50amp breaker to get it going, around 100amp if you really want to open it up. Depending on if it has PFC's in it or not.

Check out the miller site. It will be a better help than here. If that unit has a computer board it is possible to check how many hours it has been used. The computers can die, and can be expensive to replace. I am not sure if the one you are interested has this, but the unit I was looking at getting in the past did. The forum offer a ton of information on set ups which will help you. It is a great site for welding info. Millerwelds I think.

They are great welders, pretty bitchin' tig welders and also good stick welders.

I'd love to have one in my shop.

Being it is a transformer based machine, you will need some power to get full potential out of it. You will be able to weld with say, a 50 amp breaker at lower ranges but to be happy she wants a 100 amp most likely.

Its a monster, weighs 900# and wants 100A service. Its not fancy, doesn't have a puter but does have a couple boards. The good news is they are straight up, no logic. At 200 there isn't much of a loss potential, if it works great.
Mine is a good cart for 2 other machines.
