Hey I was wondering if anyone had any idea wether or not it was worth buying a old snap on box. I have been looking at this snap on 65th anniversary box that has been listed for $600 and it looked pretty sweet but I can’t find a whole lot of info on it. Plus I am not sure if it is even worth buying a box this old.
Thanks for taking the time

Without remotely knowing where you are located on plant earth, it is a bit hard to give a realistic answer.

I purchased the same set a few years back in So California for about $400. After getting it home, I did discover some damage as documented in the thread below..

That set looks like it has been used pretty hard for the last 40 years.

I don't see any dents or rust. The drawer fronts like like they'd clean up but you need to check it out in person. I believe that box uses primarily friction slides except for the larger drawers. You'll need to see how well they open and close. If they're worn out then pass on the box but if they just need cleaning and lube then go for it. The price isn't unreasonable if it checks out.

Offer a little less so you can feel you have something more than $$$ in it. Yes, I would buy it for $500. It is SnapOn. You will always get your money back. What will a new Chinese box do for you that this SnapOn cannot do? Look at the bragging rites!!!!!

The older boxes tend to be smaller overall, smaller drawers, friction slides and heavier construction. All that works just fine for me. I've been using a three old school top-and-bottom sets for years and they'll outlive me.

As to the $600, I'd only pay that after inspecting it for dents and drawer slide rail condition.

That one should be 1980. All friction slides.

If I was the seller, I'd clean it up and put $750 on it.
