I was at an estate sale of a fellow who was a machinist before he passed away. Along with everyone else I was busy rifling thru drawers picking out stuff. I see the gigantic swivel Wilton vice mounted on the bench and the son was right there so I asked him how much. I was the first to express any interest and he shrugged, "$25?". Up until now nobody had taken a second look at the vice. So I'm looking at the vice, and I am calculating the odds on whether or not I would get a hernia carrying it out to my car. Another fellow overhears us and takes it on the spot, offers to pay now and pick it up later.

As Maxwell Smart used to say, "This close!"

Haven't bought it yet. We are meting on Friday. I will snag it then for sure! I have given in to peer pressure. Okay I'm lying...i want it!!

Update: Tuen out it's not a wilton. He sent me a pic and after doing some homework..turns our it'sone of those old polish vises...made by Bison I beleive....rides on a dovetail.

Not sure if 65 bucks is a good deal. I was thinking of flippin it maybe after a resto. Not sure if I would make much money though.

any thoughts?

It's a 6 inch. jaws are in great shape. just don't know.

I think if you were going to use it you'd be good at 65, but I don't think there's enough value there to resto & flip. My 2cents but I've been wrong before! ( If it's the same Bison that makes the lathe chucks they're 1 step up from Chinese these days, I think)

Thanks dude, they are the same company that make the chucks. Maybe I'll pass on the vise. Keep my eyes out for something better!
