Should I buy this bench grinder?

A Baldor 6" bench grinder for $85. 1/2" spindle, 1/3 hp, 110 v. I did a quick search on ebay and it would seem they run for around $150 or so there. The only hesitation I have is the wheel guards are miss matched. Both guards function, buy they are from different years and don't match. More of an aesthetics thing than anything. Is it worth the $85? Can I get the correct side cover for it?

As long as it has the tool rests, eye shields and checks out OK, then you better go get it.

I bought it. The trip alone was worth it. Met a retired man who had a decent machine shop setup in his garage. It's always fun to meet people with similar interests.

I can not post any pictures unfortunately. I am out of town on travel and do not have a camera. My phone doesn't even have a camera. But... I am thinking of repainting it in my hotel room. I have my tools on the jobsite, I am thinking of wire wheeling it with a drill and then repainting it. I have never refinished an older tool, so I am not sure how feasible this is. What all is involved in 'restoring' a bench grinder? It seems to operate smoothly, so I am thinking it only needs a coat of paint. What paint do you all use to repaint these older tools?

I'd clean it and use it. Spray paint will never be as durable as the original finish.

Depends on the original finish and the spray paint job on question...
